Do you remember when....August 1st 2008

I have to bump ahead here. I still am not caught up for this year, but I couldn't wait on this one. (I hope all of you at the family reunion are viewing these--I'm cramming for you!) I never imagined I would find myself in this spot so quickly! Do you remember when you got your first car? I sure do--it was a navy blue '65 Comet. I was so excited! I washed that thing, (even though it was so oxidized it didn't even look clean), waxed it. Spent hours with it--something you would think only guys do! I loved MY first car. Russ was the same way with his first car. Well, we got to experience this all again through Caley yesterday. Oh the excitement--and that's only after looking at many, many cars. Russ and I found ourselves wanting to help with armor-all, which we did until we were gently instructed by Caley to "Please stop, I don't like it on the door handles, I don't like to touch it." Even the smell of that stuff brought back so many memories! I don't use it on the van--I don't like it on the door handles, I don't like to touch it....hmmmm I wonder where she gets it?

Caley standing with her 1990 Geo Prizm with only 92,000 miles on it!
Now Hannah and Heather can "fight" over who gets to sit in the front of this one. I'm sure Caley will work out some kind of system, or Hannah will win because her legs are so long.
I have never seen this girl work as hard as she did to clean this car--something I'm sure all of you remember doing yourselves...

Very happy to be working...

Very, very happy to get my van back!

First Ever Piano Recital July 2008

The girls have taken piano for several years from one particular teacher. In January of this year, we switched to another teacher whom I've known for many years. She is an excellent teacher who pushes the girls very hard! They had their first recital this July. I think I was more nervous than they were! It brought back memories from my childhood when I had recitals--something which I did not enjoy. But I know how beneficial it is for kids to gain this experience at an early age, therefore we make them do it! :-)

Caley playing beautifully...
Intense Hannah!
I'm so proud of Heather--she has made the most progress in 6 months time and actually loves taking piano lessons!
